Why would scientists do that? I’m so sick of the answer, “Because they can.” I think this has greater, more-sinister applications. Why not modify soldiers so that they don’t fear going into battle zones? Why not also make them incapable of compassion, so that they can kill more indiscriminately on the battlefield?
